Selection of the method to be used to calculate the deformation-mechanical support factor:
FVA 321 and FKM 2020 both use the same analytical approximation formula based on the macro support effect according to Neuber. The difference between the two methods lies in the recommended value for the cyclic hardening exponent n'. The FKM Guideline uses the value n‘ = 0.15 recommended by Bäumel and Seeger in the Universal Material Law (1990). The FVA guideline uses n’ = 0.187, which is based on the FKM method by Wächter and Esderts (2016), and is also used in the Nonlinear FKM Guideline.
