The spiral or helix direction of bevel gears is defined looking from the top of the reference cone to the tooth that is in the 12 o'clock position. If the gear rotates to the right, considered from front to rear, the spiral direction is right, and vice-versa.
If the amount of the mean helix angle (βm) is greater than or equal to 10°, the sign of βm is used internally to determine the direction of the helix angle (positive = right, negative = left)!
If the value of βm is less than 10°, the slope direction of the spiral angle attribute is used.
