In the default case, the evaluation range is determined factorial from the case hardening depth (CHD):
Start of the evaluation range: y_min = CHD * 0.5 (default)
End of the evaluation range: y_max = CHD * 3.0 (default)
Alternatively, they can be specified by the user.
