The life factor Y_NT considers the dependency between the permissible bending stress and the number of load cycles of the gearbox.

The life factor Y_NT is only used for the S-N curve calculation. If a component S-N curve is specified in the material of the respective wheel, it is used for the load capacity and load spectrum calculations.

Input options for the S-N curve calculation:

Corresponding values are included in AGMA 2003.
Calculation before Y_NT:
The progression of the life curve for bending strength is included in AGMA 2003. The slope between the load cycle numbers in the range of N_L = 3·10⁶ to N_L = 10¹⁰ can be specified by entering the life factor Y_NT10 or selecting the branch of the bending fatigue life curve. The life factor Y_NT is determined from the required life and the speed. If the required life is not specified, the life factors for pinion and wheel are set to Y_NT = 1.0.
