In addition to dimension, shape, and position deviations,
machine elements also exhibit surface roughness deviations. This is a result of geometric irregularities of the surface caused by the respective manufacturing processes. The surface roughness Rz is determined by calculating the mean value from the sum of five successive roughness measurements.
