The following combinations of bearing materials are available:

Steel bearings: bearing rings and rolling elements are made of rolling bearing steel
Hybrid bearings: bearing rings made of bearing steel, rolling elements made of silicon nitride (Si₃N₄)

Hybrid bearings exhibit a different stiffness behavior than the corresponding steel bearings. Furthermore, the basic rating life according to ISO 281 and ISO 16281 can be determined based on the basic dynamic load ratings according to ISO 20056-1. The calculation of the modified rating life does not apply to hybrid bearings.
