Scope of the thermal calculation

Various temperature and deformation influences can be taken into account when simulating the lubrication gap flow.

• For a simplified approach, isothermal behavior of the lubricant and bearing can be assumed. It is calculated based on the feed temperature.
• By default, the temperature distribution of the lubricant, bearing shell, and shaft should be taken into account.
• In addition, an approximate consideration of the thermal bearing clearance change can also be taken into account.

For tilting pad bearings, elastic deformations of the tilting pads can also be approximately taken into account in addition to the thermal deformations. However, if the geometry of the tilting pads is known, it is recommended to consider these effects more precisely using the internal FEM calculation.
