Tip radius coefficient

Symbol ρaP0*
Unit -
Attribute-ID tip_radius_coefficient_rack
Numeric ID 3061
Value Type PMDouble

The tool tip radius cuts the root fillet rounding of the gear, thus it is a decisive factor for the tooth root bending stress. A fully rounded tool produces the smallest curvature in the tooth root fillet, thus the lowest notch effect and the lowest root bending stress.

The following input options are available:

ρaP0,full Full rounded tool tip
ρaP0 Tip radius (smaller than full rounded)
mnP0 Normal module of the rack reference profile

Note: It is possible to optimize the tooth root geometry and thus further reduce the tooth root bending stresses compared to full rounding, see FVA 709 "Free tooth root geometry" (in German).
