The input parameters for the geometry calculation according to ISO 23509 differ depending on the shape of the tooth longitudinal line:
- Spiral, hypoid, or Zerol bevels: This includes all bevel gears with a curved tooth profile, such as spiral bevel gears (without hypoid offset), hypoid gears, and Zerol gears (with a helix angle βm = 0°). The tooth profile is determined by the cutter head radius rc0 and the gear cutting method, which can be specified by the number of blade groups z0.
- Skewed or straight bevels: Only straight and skewed bevel gears without hypoid offset can be considered. The cutter head radius rc0 and the number of blade groups z0 are not required input parameters.
