The dedendum angle θf is the difference angle between the pitch cone angle and the root angle. Together with the addendum angle θa it characterizes the tooth depth wise taper. For constant tooth height, θa = θf = 0.
The addendum and dedendum angles of the wheel are used as input parameters for the calculation according to IS0 23509 (2016) to determine the root and face angles of pinion and wheel.
