Determination of the local Hertzian contact stress

The following methods are available for the determination of the local Hertzian contact stress:

Method A

Here, the local Hertzian contact stress is determined in advance using a 3D load distribution analysis procedure and specified for the ISO TR 15144 standard calculation.

The values determined in this way are generally modified with the application factor K_A and the dynamic factor K_v. If the influence of the application and dynamic factors have already been taken into account in the 3D load distribution calculation, K_A and K_v should be set to 1.0.

The calculation according to method A can be performed in the overall system.

Method B

Here, the local Hertzian contact stress is determined from the nominal Hertzian contact press. All force factors of the flank are taken into account.
