Activates the simlified calculation of the bearing operating clearance.
The simplified clearance calculation can be selected to reproduce results calculated with this method in previous Workbench versions. The following simplifications are made:
- The interference in the bearing seats resulting from the tolerances and the roughness of the bearing seats reduces directly the internal radial clearance. In the exact bearing clearance calculation, on the other hand, the widening of the inner ring raceway or the shrinkage of the outer ring raceway is calculated via the pressure in the bearing seats, taking into account the ring thickness.
- The clearance in the bearing seats resulting from the tolerances of the bearing seats is added directly to the internal radial clearance. In the exact bearing clearance calculation, these clearances are calculated and shown separately from the internal bearing clearance. In the system calculation, the clearance in the bearing seats is then taken into account in addition to the bearing deformation as displacement of the shaft in the radial force direction.
- The change in interference due to different thermal expansion of the shaft, bearing and housing bore at operating temperature is not taken into account.
Note:
For a consideration of the shaft deflection, the result of the simplified clearance calculation is sufficient in most cases. However, this procedure has the following disadvantages if clearance fits are present in the bearing seats:
- In some cases (e.g. ball bearings and spherical roller bearings) too large axial clearances are calculated.
- The load distribution in the bearing is inaccurate
It is therefore recommended to use the simplified clearance calculation for comparison purposes only.
