Specification how tooth trace angle deviation is determined:
- Definition according to VDI 2607 and VDI 2612
- Definition according to DIN 3960
- Specification for the beginning of the tooth width at the smaller u-coordinate:
- Positive value: Material removal at the beginning of the tooth width
- Negative value: Material removal at the end of the tooth width
- Input in angular degrees:
- Positive value: Helix angle is increased by the modification
- Negative value: Helix angle is reduced by the modification

By definition, the modification will be calculated identically by definition according to VDI (2607 and 2612) and DIN (3960) and ISO 21772 (draft) for spur gears. A positive modification corresponds to a right-hand helix deviation; a negative correction corresponds to a left-hand matrix deviation.
