If static or shock loads act on raceways and rolling elements, plastic deformations may occur. The static load carrying capacity of the rolling bearing is limited by these deformations. The static load rating C0 is defined as the load at which the Hertzian contact stress between the rolling elements and the raceways (at the point of the highest load) reaches the following values:
C0 is used for the dimensioning of rolling bearings which are exposed to little or no rotational movement.
