| Numeric ID | 13444 |
| Value Type | PMTechArray |
The mean form error relative to the lines of contact is determined from the engagement topology for each contact line and then applied to the generated path.
| b | Face width |
| gα | Path of contact |
| E0 | Zero plane (≅ uncorrected gearing) |
| B1 | Contact line 1 |
| B2 | Contact line 2 |
The mean form error is always based on the zero plane of the ideal, uncorrected plane of action E0. The mean form error is calculated as the average distance of all points of a line of contact to the zero plane.
Contact line 1 lies on the zero plane and has a mean form error of zero.
For contact line 2, the mean form error must be determined as the average value of all points from contact line 2 to their projection on the zero plane.
