The basis of any local bevel gear calculation is a mathematical representation of the tooth flank geometry (including the microgeometry) that is as precise as possible. This is done using fitting surfaces, as these guarantee fast access to any flank point.

A manufacturing simulation is performed for bevel gear stages for which the machine setting data has been imported or which have been calculated according to the design in accordance with ISO 23509. The resolution of the kinematic grid to be calculated can be specified via the following parameters:

The points simulated in the kinematic grid for the respective tooth flank and root are used to calculate fitting surfaces of the flank and tooth root, and to determine the transition line between flank and tooth root. For bevel gear stages whose geometry was imported as a 3D point cloud, the imported data form the basis for the fitting surfaces. For each of the fitting surfaces, the surface modeling method and the associated parameters must be specified:

Default values are available for all flank calculation parameters.
