Specification of the deformation behavior (ductile or brittle) is used in the following calculations:
- Calculation of feather keys according to DIN 6892
- Calculation of splines according to FVA 591/DIN 5466
- Capacity calcluation acc. to ISO 6336 Part 3
The material behavior is divided into 3 categories:
- Ductile material behavior with pronounced yield point. In this case, σy (Re) is used.
- Ductile material behavior without weel-defined yield point. In this case, σ0.2 (R0.2) is used.
- Brittle material behavior. In this case, σ0.2 (R0.2) is used.
The following materials are characterized as brittle in the Materials Database:
- Case-hardened materials
- Nitrided materials
- Cast iron with lamellar graphite
All other materials are predefined as ductile.
