The supporting factor fS can be used to take into account a supporting effect that occurs in components subjected to compressive stress. Experience shows that this supporting effect is greater for hubs than shafts and keys due to the larger volume of material subjected to stress. The predefined values are taken from DIN 6892 Annex B.
