The width of the deformation sleeve b indicates the maximum possible diameter of the deformation body in the component. If the dimensions of the component correspond to the interface area, then b is equal to bT. If the component has very large dimensions, b is limited by the limit outer diameter DA,Gr and has no effect. If b is smaller than DA,Gr, a deformation sleeve is present, which is included in the calculation of the area moment of inertia IBers, for the compliance of eccentrically braced bolt connections (R3).
