Selection of the stress hypothesis to be used for calculation of the interference fit:
The DIN 7190 calculation is based on the Kollmann modified shear stress hypothesis and assumes ideal plastic material behavior.
Alternatively, the stresses in the interference fit can be calculated taking into account the shape modification hypothesis according to von Mises. This also allows for consideration of a stress-strain-curve. The calculation approach was developed in FVA 566 I for elastically as well as elasto-plastically loaded multiple interference fits.
