This switch is used to select whether the axial plain bearing simulation is performed for the entire bearing ring (all segments) or only a single segment.
Calculation of a single segment is sufficient if the tilting of the thrust collar and bearing ring are not taken into account, since all segments are equally loaded in this case. This takes advantage of symmetry to greatly reduce the calculation time.
The following procedure is used in the system:
- "Plain bearing calculation (with iteration)" switch activated in the system calculation
- Calculation of the entire bearing ring activated: the plain bearing calculation in the system iteration considers axial displacements as well as tilting
- Calculation of the entire bearing ring deactivated: an error message is displayed
- "Plain bearing calculation (without iteration)" switch activated in the system calculation
- Calculation of the entire bearing ring activated: the plain bearing calculation following the system calculation considers axial displacements and tilting
- Calculation of the whole bearing ring deactivated: the plain bearing calculation following the system calculation only considers axial displacements, not tilting
